Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles by Brenda Perlin: All my ebooks are on sale for 99¢ for the holidays...

Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles by Brenda Perlin: All my ebooks are on sale for 99¢ for the holidays...:   Keep warm with a book ;-)

Shattered Realty

When Brooklyn meets Bo, their lives are instantly turned upside down.

Brooklyn and Bo, each unhappily married to someone else, have to decide whether to stay with their spouses or give up everything for each other. Find out what Brooklyn's husband and Bo's soon-to-be ex-wife do to break them up.

Shattered Reality is the first book in a three part series that follows the main character, Brooklyn throughout her childhood, adult life and then what seems like an “endless” journey towards redemption.

Burnt Promises

Bo and Brooklyn’s relationship is tested while Bo’s soon-to-be-ex wife continues to try to hold on for dear life. Will Bo’s ongoing divorce battle ever come to an end or will she be able to break them up?

The main character, Brooklyn must learn many valuable lessons about herself, not without making many costly mistakes along the way. Now that she has found what she considered, her “soul-mate” in Bo, she would have to continue to defend herself against even her closest of friends, family members, and Bo’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Ruth.

This first person account chronicles the inexhaustible struggles she faces with the man that she loves. Brooklyn must learn a thing or two about patience as Bo’s divorce settlement seems to be never ending. Throughout her journey, Brooklyn shares some of Ruth’s intimate emails to Bo and gives you a good look into the mind of a woman scorned.

Fractured Vows

When love comes with a price...

What happens once a vengeful ex just won’t let go? Bo and Brooklyn’s worlds are turned upside down as they find themselves facing insanity in the form of an angry woman who loses all reason when she tries to destroy them. Will Ruth give up or will she succeed in ending the relationship between her former husband and his new love?

Alex the Mutt

Alex the Mutt was the love of my life, but she could have been euthanized before having had a chance to live. Please join me on my journey to find love, and the emotional conflict I endured when forced to leave a dog behind.

These strays deserve more. All it takes is compassion and understanding. Too many animals are killed before their time, and this has got to end now. If only more people would stop and think first before going to a pet store or breeder. Instead, visit a local rescue, pound, or shelter. It’s time to be their voice; please help spread the word. Will you join the cause?

For a limited time only - Ty the Bull by Brenda Perlin - Kindle edition 99 cents

Everything seemed to fall apart for Ty when his parents got a divorce. At his wits end after being bullied endlessly, he started to ditch school. It wasn't until he met up with a skater named Peacock that things somehow turned around and he put the pieces of his life back together.

My review:

Ty the Bull is a heartwarming account of a child’s experience with bullies.  Rex cannot explain why he became a target and shares his feelings about the effect this horrific situation had on his behavior.  This is a story of hope and a must read for any child going through a similar experience.

Mr. Chuckles stirs the Wizard's Cauldron, whipping up the anti-bullying novella, Ty the Bull.

Ty the Bull is about bullies and divorce. Kid’s can be so cruel to each other. Bullying has been going on forever but now it is better in some ways because now it is more talked about.
This ten year old Ty has to deal with kids at school who turn on him as the wind blows. If things are not bad enough his parents have split up and he feels alone. Ty feels lonely. He doesn’t feel understood and doesn’t get the attention he needs.

Interview with Rex Baughman whose life events inspired the novel, Ty the Bull

Brenda:
Hi Rex. Please tell us a little about you.

Rex:
Well, I really like to be active unless there is no one I like to play with. Then I will stay inside. I like to stay positive. Some kids will get bored or sad right away but I like to look at the bright side of things.

 Brenda:
That is so good Rex. I love hearing that. A positive outlook is a great thing.

If you were to write another book what would you write about Rex?

Rex:
I would want to write about a motorcycle cop and a girl in a bikini with a bunch of zaliens and gorons.

Brenda:
What in the world is a zalien and a goron?

 Rex:

Those are my made up characters. They are zombie aliens. They are kind of like aliens and gluten free maniacs.

Brenda:
Haha... What do you know about gluten free?

 Rex:
I know some people eat brownies without gluten.

Brenda:
I'm learning something new everyday!

What have you been bullied about?

 Rex:
Being fat even though I know I am not fat. They say that because I am bigger than them. They call me the basic names like idiot. Mostly they just call me fat.

 Brenda:
Oh gosh Rex. I hope you don’t believe what they say.

Rex:
I don’t but they say stuff like that.

Brenda:
What do you want your readers to take away from your book.

 Rex:
I want them to know that when they are bullied they are not alone. They are not the only one’s they have this happen to. Since it is more talked about it is not such a big surprise.

Brenda:
So again, you are saying that they are not alone.

 Rex:
That’s right.

Brenda:
On that note, what are your parting words?

 Rex:
A lot of the other kids are being bullied, you can relate to the other kids if you are being bullied too.

Brenda:
Anything else?

 Rex:
STAY COOL

Rex's first interview with Donna Huber, Girl who reads!

A Conversation with Brenda Perlin and Rex Baughman

Two of the authors of Ty the Bull recently chatted about the book and the important message contained within its pages:

Everything seemed to fall apart for Ty when his parents got a divorce. At his wits end after being bullied endlessly, he started to ditch school. It wasn't until he met up with a skater named Peacock that things somehow turned around and he put the pieces of his life back together.

Brenda Perlin, author of the Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles, and Kim Mutch Emerson, publisher at Master Koda Select Publishing, teamed up with 11 year old Rex Baughman to tell an illustrated story based on the real life of an average 10 year old kid. Here is the transcript of a recent conversation Brenda and Rex had about bullying, writing a book and more.

Brenda:   Why do you think kids bully other kids?

Rex:   Because.they are mad at themselves and they are not feeling good and they want everybody else to feel the same way they do?Brenda   That is such a really good answer! I wouldn’t have thought of all that. So you think they have low-self-esteem?

Ty the BullRex:   Yeah

Brenda:   What are some of the things kids have bullied you about?

Rex:   Like your fat and your stupid.

Brenda:   But you are not fat you are not stupid.

Rex:   I know. But I don’t know why.

Brenda:   You have said people even pick on your name.

Rex:   I know. It doesn’t make any sense.

Brenda:   Why do you think a story about bullies is important?

Rex:   To make others feel like that they shouldn’t care about what other people say or think. Just move on and don’t think about it. Just ignore it.

Brenda:   What has helped you the most against bullies? I mean have you even been able to just ignore them?

Rex:  Usually, just say like what’s you're problem and they usually get stuck and move.

Brenda:    That is great.

Rex:   Yes, I just try to ignore them.

Brenda:   That’s even better.

Rex:   Yeah, I think so.

Brenda:   What is helping you the most dealing with your parents divorce?

Rex:   Probably not think about it.

Brenda:   It’s not getting easier for you?

Rex:   Not that easy.

Brenda:   You are not alone . It’s a hard topic.

Rex:   I know.

Brenda:   What makes you feel better about yourself?

Rex:   Ummm… I really don’t know.

Brenda:   Yes, you do! Rex!

Rex:   Oh yeah, when I do good in school or when I do good art work or learn a new trick on the trampoline.

Brenda:   That’s a good feeling.

Rex:   Yeah.

Brenda:   We used your artwork for the book. Do you think your work has recently improved? If so, why and how?

Rex:   Oh yeah, for sure. I have. Probably because I have been putting more time into it and more thought. And putting more details.

Brenda:   You have a natural talent but of course you have to nurture it.

Rex:  Yes, I have to be careful how I put the marks on them. It’s better when I take my time.

Brenda:  Let’s change the subject, what’s your favorite subject in school?

Rex:   History. Actually.

Brenda:   Really, how come?

Rex:   Well, I have three. History, writing and math. History because it is a pretty easy subject for me. I have a good memory so I can remember all the things I have to study for.

Brenda:   That is good. It’s not because it is interesting?

Rex:   I like writing too because you get to make up stories and math because you get to solve equations. History is probably my favorite though.

Brenda:   What do you want to do when you grow up?

Rex:   I would have to say an owner of a company that I made and designed.

Brenda:   That was fast! You are such an individual! I love that. I think you’re big on being your own person Rex!

Brenda:   How does it feel to have your name on the cover of a published book?

Rex:   I feel FAMOUS! I feel serious in the business word.

Brenda:   That is wonderful. You are making something of yourself.

Rex:   Yeah!

Thank you Donna for the beautiful page!
