My review of Shattered Reality by Brenda Perlin

Shattered Reality is a story about a woman named Brooklyn who was in a loveless marriage until a lift-altering experience leaves her contemplating her future.  The author shares her childhood memories, the good and the bad, and the reasons why she married a man she did not really love.  After surviving a debilitating illness, she meets by chance, Bo, who would eventually steal her heart.  While the reader may not condone infidelity, it is not difficult to understand why Brooklyn made the decision to radically change her life.  A heart-wrenching confession, honestly written.

Shattered Reality (Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles) by Brenda Perlin, draws you in. Written in a style that takes the reader right along with Brooklyn, the protagonist. Brooklyn’s life story is emotional and sometimes heart wrenching. One doesn’t usually cheer for the other woman but then again one doesn’t usually know all sides of the story. Written from Brooklyn’s POV, this book chronicles her life, loves, losses and the choices she makes to find happiness. Yes, she has an affair with a married man, but she is not a home wrecker. Bo’s story is just as heartbreaking as Brooklyn’s. I look forward to learning more about Bo in the following books. I finished this book feeling it was a blessing that these two people found each other. I won’t give any spoilers with details of the hell that Brooklyn and Bo go through once her husband and his wife get involved, but it is well worth the read and short enough to read in one sitting. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Shattered Reality is really a story of an unhappy bride. It's also a coming-of-age story that I think many of you can relate to. There is no holding back. Just a story about a girl. No one too extraordinary or famous. Just me!

I may not make myself look so great but this is my life and hopefully I have learned a thing or two from my mistakes and even forgiven myself. I hope you will too!
