Amazon Review of The Briton and the Dane Timeline by Mary Ann Bernal

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful read, February 20, 2014
By
This review is from: The Briton and the Dane: Timeline (Kindle Edition)
I loved Timeline. Gwyneth was not new to me I have followed her life already in Mary Ann Bernal’s Trilogy The Briton and the Dane (Which I can also highly recommend) But in Timeline Dr Franger takes us back on a journey to the Anglo Saxon time in England and Gwyneth comes alive in front of your eyes. This book has everything a good Historical novel should have, intrigue, betrayal, danger and of course love. Mary Ann Bernal’s love for that period is obvious. Her extensive research combined with her passion makes her books compelling reading. I highly recommend this book.

Mary Ann Bernal's latest novel was an enthralling read. She writes with great passion and clarity which draws the reader into the world of The Briton and the Dane. Timeline is a romance novel with snippets of historical reference and masses of adventure. I loved reading Timeline and like all Ms Bernal's novels when the story ends you wish it hadn't. Loved the mixture of the past with the future - well done!

My review of On Top of the Rainbow by K. Meador

On Top of the Rainbow is a delightful children’s story, which delves into the priorities of life, and what is truly important.

Five-year-old Gabe is distraught because of breaking a toy airplane and decides to run away from home rather than having to confess to his parents and Papa.  Grabbing Dino, his toy dinosaur, he runs out of the yard and heads towards the forest where he meets a Leprechaun named Lep who guards a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

When Gabe answers Lep’s riddle, he climbs the rainbow where he meets a beautiful unicorn named Elita.  Gabe misses his family, but he is also curious about the wondrous things he can see at the end of the rainbow.

Will Gabe forge ahead, knowing he might never return home once the rainbow disappears, or will be forget about the magical land and go home?  No spoilers here.

The author does an excellent job in conveying family values, detailing a crucial lesson to teach a young impressionable mind.   I look forward to reading more of this author’s works.

Amazon Review - Shattered Reality by Brenda Perlin

5.0 out of 5 stars Shattered Reality, January 1, 2014

This review is from: Shattered Reality (Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)
Shattered Reality (Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles) by Brenda Perlin, draws you in. Written in a style that takes the reader right along with Brooklyn, the protagonist. Brooklyn’s life story is emotional and sometimes heart wrenching. One doesn’t usually cheer for the other woman but then again one doesn’t usually know all sides of the story. Written from Brooklyn’s POV, this book chronicles her life, loves, losses and the choices she makes to find happiness. Yes, she has an affair with a married man, but she is not a home wrecker. Bo’s story is just as heartbreaking as Brooklyn’s. I look forward to learning more about Bo in the following books. I finished this book feeling it was a blessing that these two people found each other. I won’t give any spoilers with details of the hell that Brooklyn and Bo go through once her husband and his wife get involved, but it is well worth the read and short enough to read in one sitting. I look forward to reading more from this author.

THE ADVENTURES OF CECILIA SPARK: - The Mystical Mountains of Terra - My Review - Kindle edition FREE today and tomorrow 16 Dec 2013

THE ADVENTURES OF CECILIA SPARK:
The Mystical Mountains of Terra
written by Ngaire Elder     illustrated by Peter Maddocks

My review:

An enchanting story in the magical world of  children.

Ms. Elder weaves her magic with this delightful tale of adventure in the second installment of the Cecilia Spark Adventures series.

Senorita Favorita needs Cecilia’s help to reverse a spell cast by the evil sorcerer, Magus, upon Orson, changing the boy into a mouse, who was given the name Soldier. Senorita Favorita needs the Scepter of Malvado, which is being guarded by the Keeper in the mystical mountains of Terra.  However, time is of the essence, since the quest must be completed before the total eclipse of the sun in two days’ time.

Cecilia faces new challenges as the ten-year-old arrives at the Sandscape Coast with Soldier, her guide to the Kingdom of Malvado.  They come upon Ractus the Armadillo who once knew Orson.  The hearty trio must survive the Mangrove Swamp, defeat Pyrbrok and escape the beast’s lair before reaching the mystical mountains where they encounter the Keeper, hoping to retrieve the scepter.

Does Cecilia complete her quest in time?  Does Orson become a boy once again?  No spoilers here.

Children of all ages will enjoy this story, which has all the elements necessary for a wonderful adventure.  The author delves into the mindset of a child, sharing with the reader every emotion experienced on such a quest.  Excitement, anxiety, perseverance to never give up - this story has it all.   I look forward to reading more stories by this author.

Amazon Review - Megan: Breadcrumbs For The Nasties Book One (Kindle Edition) by Steven Novak

5.0 out of 5 stars One of THOSE books., November 20, 2013

This review is from: Megan: Breadcrumbs For The Nasties Book One (Kindle Edition)
Every time I find a book that sounds good I start reading hoping that there is something new and different. Something to make me remember this particular book. I want to be going about my day and have it pop into my head for no reason at all. That is the kind of book and author that get me hooked. This is definitely one of those books.

Steven Novak has done an excellent job taking a handful of the most overused themes and making them completely his own.

My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next book.

Mary Ann Bernal reviews Hard as Roxx by Bill Jones, Jr.

18336626

The author spins an exciting tale that is set in a post apocalyptic world. If you like strong women, you will love Roxx, a single mother who must protect her family from the ruthless leaders upholding the law. In this futuristic society, the women have been genetically altered to limit pregnancies to just one. However, Roxx’ genetic makeup does not carry the enhanced code, and she finds herself pregnant with a second child as a result of a rape. Once the baby is born, Roxx must protect her two daughters not only from a government that would execute both mother and child, but also from the man who had ravished her. As the months pass, it becomes harder for Roxx to remain in the home she had made for her family. She no longer has a choice and must flee with her daughters across the Sahara desert, hoping to reach the European continent, and safety.

This story is action packed with exciting twists when you least expect them. If you enjoyed “Children of Men,” you’ll love this.
