About K-Trina

Ironically, I never saw myself settling in Oklahoma since my roots are in Texas, but here I am living on twenty beautiful acres named Timberland Forest.

I love to spin stories for children and adults in the genres of clean romance, stories based on true life events, Christian inspirational/devotionals, and, of course, children’s.

In addition to writing, I have spent over twenty years in the aviation industry, first as an aircraft mechanic and then as an inspector fulfilling leadership roles within that timeframe. I currently work for Pratt and Whitney as an engine inspector. I have a passion for those in prison and work as a volunteer teacher through Prison Fellowship serving at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center (MBCC) and Lexington Assessment and Reception Center (LARC).

I am extremely proud of my two sons who are actively pursuing their own careers. Five cats and one very large dog adopted me and keep me company on a daily basis. Their antics keep me laughing and will quite possibly end up in a book or two.

I'd love to hear from you, so send me an email at authorkmeador@gmail.com

New Release Zane Kindle Edition by K. Meador

Age Level: 4 - 8

Children sometimes need gentle guidance in obedience and lessons in patience. When they can read about families where these lessons are incorporated seamlessly into daily life, it reinforces what they see in their own homes.

Zane aims to provide exactly that example, as Sheila remembers her own experience with disobedience when her son encounters a similar scenario.

Amazon reviews:

Using only the tool of well-crafted words, K. Meador has a gift for bringing her readers and listeners into real relationships with her characters and their life challenges. I liked how she shares, and even teaches, spiritual truths without a trace of a religious spirit. You can tell she's "been there" by the details she includes in her simple and clearly written depictions. K-Trina doesn't sugar-coat the grit and internal drama her characters face. You get the sense that the guidance and encouragement she is offering through some real-life struggles that have devastated many, can actually be realized in every life that will be as honest with themselves as this writer is with her pen. From the depth of character I sensed in her writing, I wanted to see if this was maintained through her other works. I was amazed to find such diversified genres to which she has contributed, and was hooked as I read the Amazon preview of her vivid and redeeming stories of powerful love and hope, set against a Civil War era backdrop. Yet her children's stories are so delightfully innocent and full of fantasy! I am impressed with this author and highly recommend any of her works.

K. Meador's Reflections: For the Heart and Soul was a excellent read.
The way the author used specific situations and stories to correspond to biblical studies made the scriptures come to life.
After each example you found yourself reflecting on your personal walk with God and how your actions are influenced by inner thoughts.
It's a beautiful, well written, and personal read.

Knight of the Dixie Wilds by K. Meador - an excerpt

"Now, Uncle Joe, haven't I always been your friend and kept you clear of trouble when I could. Don't go back on me now. Think of that poor, frightened girl, alone up younder in the swamp crying her eyes out for her home and people. There is very little danger to do what I ask."

No period in the history of the United States of America forms a field so rich with chivalry, romance and drama as the years between 1865 and 1870, the so-called days of the reconstruction of the South, during which period the Nation was born again and started on its climb to the top rung of power among the nations of the world.

The Tyler family relocates from Mississippi to Texas for a new start after having to give up their plantation and over one hundred slaves as a result of the War Between the States.

Buck Tyler, also known as The Knight of the Dixie Wilds, is tested in courage, strength, loyalty, endurance and love. Facing hardships, deception, enemies, prison, and death, the years of reconstruction takes a toll on his energy, body and faith.

Buck finds himself in love with two different women. Maggie, the dark skinned woman of his childhood and Kate, the delicate girl-child he found lost in the woods.

Would he stand firm through the scenes of bloodshed, disappointment, and sorrow? Would he stand the acid test and, in the end, find victory, peace, and happiness? Or would he weaken in the strenuous struggle ahead and fall ingloriously?

A harrowing adventure, based on true events, that is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat and thinking upon days past…

    Book Review by K. Meador

    Date: April 24th 2014
Book: The Briton and The Dane: Timeline
    Author: Mary Ann Bernal
    Genre: Historical Drama

About The Briton and The Dane: Timeline

Dr. Gwyneth Franger is a renowned expert in early medieval England who is set upon learning the truth about the death of Lord Erik, the last descendant of the powerful House of Wareham. Her quest becomes an obsession, a condition that began with the discovery of a portrait of the tall and valiant warrior with which she forms an extraordinary and inexplicable bond.

Digesting troves of mildewed scrolls and source documentation only enhances her belief that Lord Erik was brutally assassinated by a cabal of traitors in the pay of William the Bastard, shortly before the onslaught of the Norman Invasion.

On an archeological dig in Southern England, her team unearths an Anglo-Saxon fortress, a vast citadel built during the reign of Alfred the Great, which she believes was Lord Erik’s stronghold. In the midst of her excitement, she is awakened one night from her slumbers by a disconcerting anomaly emerging from the site.

Dr. Franger finds herself transported back to the Dark Ages and at the side of the noble Lord Erik who commands an army of elite Saxon warriors, a swift and mobile force able to deploy quickly throughout the kingdom to ward off invaders.

Witnessing the unrest firsthand, Gwyneth senses that her instincts had been right all along, and she is determined to learn the identities of the treacherous blackguards hiding in the shadows, villains who may well be posing as Lord Erik’s friends and counselors.

Will Gwyneth stop the assassins? Is she strong enough to walk away and watch her beloved Erik die? Or will she intervene, change the course of history and wipe out an entire timeline to save the man she loves with all her heart?

    My Review:

I found The Briton and the Dane: Timeline a fascinating approach to a historical novel. The reader receives a taste of present day mixed in with history. When you think you have it all figured out, Author Mary Ann Bernal throws another twist in the story making you wonder what is really going on. Brilliantly told story that has an unprecedented ending! In her traditional fashion of weaving a tale, Author Mary Ann Bernal does not disappoint.  I enjoyed reading this book very much and I do recommend it to others.

    About the Author

I fell in love with medieval England after I read Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe. Then came the great Hollywood epics such as Knights of the Round Table, Prince Valiant, The Black Shield of Falworth and The Vikings, to name but a few. Add to the mix Camelot and an incurable romantic Anglophile was born!

The Briton and the Dane novels are set in Ninth Century Anglo-Saxon Britain when the formidable Vikings terrorized the civilized world. The epic adventure runs the gamut of deception, treachery, intrigue, and complicated relationships during a time of war and conquest. Resource material such as book club discussion items, glossary of terms, period maps and character lists are available for download at http://www.maryannbernal.com.

My review of The Knight of the Dixie Wilds by Walter Taylor and K. Meador

My Review of Knight of the Dixie Wilds

The Knight of the Dixie Wilds reveals the plight of the Southern gentry after the U.S. Civil War.  The reader is quickly immersed into the story, following the fate of the Tyler family, wealthy plantation owners who are forced to relocate to Texas.

The human element is prevalent in the narrative; the characters are flesh and blood and not mere footnotes in a history book.  As the horrors of Reconstruction of the South unfold, the lawlessness and corruption lead to the creation of the Klu Klux Klan.

Against this backdrop, Buck Tyler becomes involved with the Klan and is forced to live in the woods once a price is put on his head.  Buck is betrayed and flees the state, leaving the woman he loves behind.  He must surmount unbeatable odds if he is to return to Texas and to the love of his life.

The story is an excellent depiction of life in a long ago era, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
