Secrets Beneath the Waves: A Snippet from AnaRose and Medusa’s Curse by Mary Ann Bernal

Snippet

AnaRose and Miles, equipped with their diving gear, plunged into the depths of the Aegean Sea. As they descended, the water embraced them in a cool, silent hug. Sunlight filtered through, casting light on the ruins below.

Nestled on the ocean floor, the shipwreck, a relic of seafaring heritage, rested. Amphorae, once brimming with wine and olive oil, now cradled coral and sea anemones. Divers navigated the skeletal remains of the ship’s hull, where wooden beams served as a haven for schools of darting fish.

The seabed unfolded as a living painting, its rocks and sand forming hills and valleys, adorned by seagrass dancing in the current. Curious about the newcomers, colorful fish darted through the water, weaving a tapestry of life in their underwater domain.

AnaRose gestured toward a remarkably preserved amphora with intricate patterns still evident after centuries. Miles, swimming nearer to the wreckage, gave an affirming nod. With a confident flick of her fins, AnaRose signaled Miles to shadow her lead. They swam toward the site of the recent seismic event that reshaped the seabed’s contours. The earthquake had dislodged ancient debris, now scattered like a puzzle waiting to be pieced together. Among the fragments, parts of cargo once confined within the ship’s hold now lay bare.

Her torchlight fell on a colossal stone visage, eyes wide in eternal surprise. The head of Medusa, its serpentine locks frozen in stone, stood as a tribute to the artisan’s skill. Miles swam closer, his fingers brushing against the cold, algae‑covered surface. Ancient coins, with edges worn and faces barely discernible, lay scattered across the area. Swords, their hilts encrusted with barnacles, and spears with corroded tips protruded from the seabed. Miles swept aside the sludge to unveil a breastplate, an archaeological treasure destined to remain in its watery grave.

Suddenly, two figures came out of nowhere, their intentions clear from the glint of metal. AnaRose caught sight of their weapons, signaling to Miles with urgent gestures. They were not alone.

Book Spotlight: Margery and Me by Maryka Biaggio

In the 1920s, Margery Crandon captivated both Boston society and psychic researchers with her astonishing seances. At her gatherings, her deceased brother Walter regularly appeared, entertaining the circle with his witty and cheeky remarks. Margery's abilities earned her the admiration of luminaries, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and William Butler Yeats. But one man stood in opposition: Harry Houdini, the legendary magician, who was determined to expose her as a fraud.

Margery and Me tells the true story of the medium who mystified scientists, challenged skeptics, and sparked a sensation across America and Europe. As Houdini and Margery clashed in a battle of wits and wills, the question remained: Could the master illusionist unmask her, or would her extraordinary powers be enough to convert even the most resolute of doubters?

I’ve always been a writer, but it was only when illness forced me to stop everything that I finally had the time to write a novel. After decades of misdiagnosis, I learned I was born with a serious genetic condition, not rare, but profoundly misunderstood. The clues were there from birth, and suddenly, a lifetime of struggle made sense.

Writing became my lifeline: a way to step beyond my pain, to shape my experience into a story, and to find meaning where there had once been only endurance.

I have a lifelong love of children, Counselling, and Psychotherapy Theory and history.

The Briton and the Dane: Timeline by Mary Ann Bernal – A Cinematic Leap Through Time

Across Centuries: Where History Is a Gate, and Destiny Is a Choice.

 Watch the Trailer

A dark secret. A fierce battle. A shrouded destiny.

In the quiet halls of a modern museum, historian Gwyneth Franger uncovers a medieval portrait that defies explanation. Her research leads to a forgotten fortress and a gateway to the past. Swept into a world on the edge of upheaval, she finds herself in the arms of a man history says must die.

The throne is vulnerable. Loyalties shift like sand. And Gwyneth holds knowledge that could unravel everything.

Trapped in a time not her own, she must navigate ancient tunnels, fierce battles, and a fate already written in blood. But destiny is not fixed. And some secrets echo louder than time itself.

 A Note from the Author

I wrote The Briton and the Dane: Timeline to explore the fragile line between knowledge and power; what happens when someone knows too much about the future, and must choose whether to act or stay silent. Gwyneth’s journey is one of restraint, courage, and transformation. The temptation to change history is real. But strength lies in understanding the weight of consequence, and in honoring the past even when it breaks the heart.

This story is a discovery of identity, legacy, and the quiet heroism it takes to walk through time without leaving footprints.

 About the Book

When a medieval portrait draws historian Gwyneth Franger into a forgotten fortress, her research uncovers more than a mystery; it becomes a gateway. Catapulted into the final days before the Norman invasion, she finds herself in the arms of a man history says must die.

Trapped in the eleventh century, she navigates shifting allegiances, ancient tunnels, and a fate that’s already been written. But destiny is not fixed. And some secrets can echo across bloodlines.

She knows the truth. She holds the key. But every word she speaks could destroy the future.

Book Spotlight: Fool by Mary Lawrence

Betrayal. Power. Perception. The most dangerous mind at court belongs to a fool.

From the author of The Alchemist's Daughter comes a dark tale of ambition and survival.

"One of the most vibrant characters I've encountered in years."--Goodreads Ecostell

Kronos is a fool--mocked for his dwarfism, prized for his juggling, and underestimated by everyone who matters. But in a court ruled by paranoia and whispers, invisibility is its own kind of power.

When Kronos overhears a secret that could destroy Queen Katherine Howard, he becomes a liability the crown cannot afford. Silenced, mutilated, and left for dead, he survives--barely.

Rescued by an ambitious apothecary, Kronos soon realizes he has not escaped danger--he has merely changed masters. His secret is worth a fortune...and powerful men are willing to kill to control it.

But Kronos has spent his life being overlooked and he's ready to use that to his advantage.

As rival factions circle and scheme, Kronos sets a plan in motion--one that could topple the mighty, rewrite his fate, and force his foes to reconsider which of them is truly...the fool.

Perfect for fans of C.J. Sansom and Philippa Gregory

Praise for Fool:

Vividly written and grounded in scrupulous research, Fool captures both the dark comedy and lethal danger of Henry VIII’s court.

~ Nancy Bilyeau, author of The Crown and The Blue

A masterclass in immersive storytelling.

~ Tony Riches, author of the best-selling Tudor Trilogy

A thoughtful and unsparing Tudor novel that reframes the court jester not as comic ornament but as a precarious witness to power.
